In recent years, there has been a rise in the popularity of filming using devices such as this. Why did you choose to shoot your movie on the Flip ?

I used the Flip Mino HD because I was very impressed with the output quality and ease of use.

What are the advantages and disadvantages about shooting a drama on a Flip?

Advantages:

- Small size (smaller than most mobiles!) and easy to handle.
- Records in HD.
- Minimal buttons for basic functions like record, play and zoom.
- Easy USB transfer.

Disadvantages:
- Cannot use DOP adapters, filters, lenses.
- Cannot change Frames per second (fps).

I don’t really consider these as disadvantages. The advantages clearly outweigh these!!

How did you deal with the audio?

I re-recorded all the audio in studio. I used the audio captured by the Flip as a guide track during post-production.

What software did you edit on?

Sony Vegas Pro on my HP Laptop with 4GB RAM running on Vista Premium (64 bit)

What tips would you give to other people shooting a short on the Flip?

- Avoid fast PAN shots.
- Try to use a tripod as much as possible.
- Understand the lens limitations and storyboard accordingly.

Flip is a ‘must-have’ for wannabe filmmakers.
